5 Things I'm Going to do in Vegas

So Paul and I are going to Vegas in December. It's going to be fun. Boy Genius and his brother Bob are going too. Al Can't Hang and his wife Evanne are making the trip too. We're all staying at the same casino which is going to be great.

BG and Bob both made a list of 5 things they are going to do in Vegas when we go. I'm going to steal their idea. I've been to Vegas with my brother so many times in the last 2 and 1/2 years that I've lost count. Since this is not my first go around like it is for BG and Mr. & Mrs. Can't Hang, my list will be slightly different. It won't be so complicated or tough to meet.

1. Play poker
2. Play poker
3. Play poker
4. Gamble in the sport book Sunday morning and get drunk (West coast baby - AM football), then play poker.
5. Play poker.

Sometime during this hectic schedule, I hope to get drunk and eat at a Vegas buffet with the gang. It should be a blast. I hope Vegas can handle us and the Rodeo show at the same time. It looks like we're all staying at the Excalibur. The Mandalay Bay Casino is real close to where we're staying. They have the best Sport Book setup in Vegas. They have every single big screen TV and the gambling odds for every sporting event directly in front of you. It sounds simple but they're the only ones who do it. Nothing is on the side walls like at the other casinos. You don't have to look all around and miss any action. Mandalay Bay has it all in front on you. I Can't Wait . . . . watch out Las Vegas!!!

I just got back from Excalibur this past weekend. They have $1-3, $2-6 and $100 NL games. I like the $2-6 game...Single $2 blind and you can bet anything between $2 and $6....also, on Monday Nights they give away free money if you can guess the score of the Monday night football game. $400 if you get it right after each quarter.....carries over to next week if you get it wrong. Also have a wheel for quads or higher and a very high bad beat jackpot (was $9000) for a bad beat of aces full or higher.

Have fun!

Happy Birthday!

And for the record, I've been to (lost) in Vegas
many times. I'm like a pro in that regard.

Looking forward to meeting you, Pauly, the Hangs,
Otis, and whoever else makes it. Bellagio has a
pretty kick ass buffet. I got it comped after about
11 straight hours of blackjack, carribean stud where I stayed in blind every time, and walking back and forth to the bathroom without my sandals on. At least it seemed really good...I was pretty drunk at that point.

Buffet-wise, I can heartily recommend three without hesitation - Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, and Aladdin. The Paris buffet is overrated. Luxor's is good for a middle-lower-end buffet (and especially good late at night after a big win at the Excal with a sick wife at your side).

Excalibur's poker room is a lot of fun, especially those spread limit games. It's also a lot bigger than it used to be - they moved & expanded it back in April/May once it became apparent that poker was officially back. The dealers are almost all great, too, friendly and professional in every respect. I've played there on both of my trips to Vegas, with one large win and one small loss to show for it. I can also recommend the Flamingo poker room (small but good action), and the Luxor (also small but tons of loose games, decent tourneys, and those weird auto-shufflers). Stay away from the IP's room unless you want drunk tourists calling you down with the Hammer - and winning. (Though there's a really cool, professional old-school New Yawker dealer named Rick working there who's a great guy.)

I'm planning a trip to Vegas with a bunch of my local friends in March, and I can't wait to get back out there. It's only been 5 months but it feels like forever. Have a great time out there and make sure you win big!
